We have been gifted with information from three prominent Latin American reformers involved in Church and societal reform: Fr. Peter Hughes, Birgit Weiller, MM, and Olga Consuelo Vélez. It is important to note that 40% of the world’s Catholics live in Latin America.

There must be openness to listen to all our fellow pilgrims on this journey and to all topics of concern for our Church to be truly synodal. When one holds sacred space to truly listen, one affirms and validates others for who they are. This builds the trust needed for the marginalized (women, LGBTQ+, divorced & remarried, etc.) to respond to the invitation to speak

African bishops have come to realize that use of the internet for evangelization requires greater attention, in part because young people have become so engaged with social media but also because youth in rural areas do not have equal access, thereby creating a “digital divide.”

The bishops are determined not to leave anyone out.

Thanks to all who participated in this synodal gathering. Without exception, everyone who joined honored the format of this Conversation in the Spirit.

The reports underscore the significance of a proactive approach in the Church’s mission, emphasizing the need for accountability, prayer, and unwavering support for Pope Francis.

Bishops are expected to be witnesses to the faith of their local church. The best way to ensure this is by having bishops who are democratically elected by the local churches.
